Colonial style houses usually have a normal symmetrical floorplan, but various styles have developed over the years.

The old style colonial homes were houses with dark green, pitched metal roofs, white fascias, red face bricks with a white plaster surrounding, decorative steel balustrades and wooden or steel frames that are usually painted white.

This was a common look formed during the Victorian era.
